Safe Drinking Water Initiative for Children in a Remote Village School, Karnataka
Biswashok Foundation initiated a Safe Drinking Water program in a school located in a remote village in Karnataka, addressing the critical lack of access to clean and safe drinking water for children. In many rural areas, unsafe water remains a major cause of illness, directly affecting students’ health, attendance, and learning outcomes.
The initiative involved the installation of sustainable water filtration systems within the school premises, ensuring a reliable supply of safe drinking water for daily consumption. These systems were selected to be low-maintenance and suitable for long-term use in rural settings.
Alongside infrastructure support, BAF conducted awareness sessions for students, teachers, and community members on the importance of clean water, hygiene practices, and basic maintenance of the filtration systems. The focus was on building awareness and responsibility so that the benefits of the initiative could be sustained beyond implementation.
Through this intervention, Biswashok Foundation contributed to improving student health, reducing water-borne risks, and creating a safer learning environment. The project reflects BAF’s commitment to child welfare, preventive healthcare, and sustainable community development in underserved rural regions.
